BJ Translations Ltd is a company based in St Nicholas-at-Wade near Birchington. As professional translators, we've been offering high quality language services for three decades to clients throughout the Isle of Thanet, East Kent and indeed worldwide.

We often help local people from Ramsgate, Broadstairs or Margate needing official translations (also called 'certified' translations). For example:

• birth certificates / marriage or divorce certificates — the registry office may say you need formal English versions of certain foreign language documents before your wedding can go ahead
• death certificates — often needed when dealing with wills and probate
• real estate documents — maybe you're buying or selling a property in Europe, and want to be sure you communicate clearly and accurately with the notaire and local authorities
• driving licences — if you took your driving test abroad, you may need proof, translated for DVLA

In all these situations — and many more — we can help. You may be bilingual and capable of translating them yourself… but the authorities won't accept that. Some documents come with a multilingual key to the content, or an 'apostille' making it legally valid in other countries… but that too isn't always enough.

We're also on your doorstep, so if you're nervous about sending important documents through the post, you can bring them to us and collect them when completed. If you're using a local lawyer or notary public (notarization is a particular form of legalization), we're also within reach.

That's by no means all we do, though. We cover a huge range of languages — from French, Italian, German and Spanish through to Japanese, Chinese and Korean, with just about everything in between. We're comfortable with complex technical areas and regularly assist with legal cases where billions of pounds, dollars or yen are at stake and confidentiality is crucial.

Prices

The first question from most people is "how much will it cost?" and for simple documents (like the official translation of a short birth certificate, sent by email) the answer might be as low as £60+VAT. But it does depend on the detail: how much text, how urgent, what type of certification is needed, and so on. We give free estimates, so send us a scan or high quality photograph of your documents (we guarantee confidentiality) and we'll get back to you quickly with a quote and turnaround time.
